Hello every 1, heres my saturday night daft question.....
if i want to "flash" my high beam i simply pull the indicator stick forward and let go... job done...
But if i allready have my dipped beam on it wont flash, if i pull the arm forward no matter how much it just turns hig beam on constantly, with every other car ive ever worked on or drove you can still flash high beam with normal dipped beam on,
my new arm (second hand from Emmots of colne) has arrived today but it feels the same so befor i pull air bag to bits to fit it i just thort id ask to make sure that it is foooked, Sooooooo.... can you normally flash high beam with dipped beam allready on???? or is it purley on or off, no flash unless you pull it twice (once to turn on and once to turn off)

****in hell ive just read what ive typed and ive confused myself!!! cant explain it better so il just wait for replys and the usuall banter this daft thread deserves,:doh: my appologies...:D

Hi Mike.

Mine does exactly as yours. With the lights off, if I pull the arm it flashes. With lights on, if I pull the arm it sets high beams. But, mine could be broken too :)

From RAVE:
Headlight main and dipped beams
Pull the lever fully towards the steering wheel to change from dipped beam to main beam (BLUE warning light on the instrument panel
glows when the headlights are on main beam).
To flash the headlights, pull the lever part-way toward the steering wheel (to the first position) and release.

According to the user manual, a light "half pull" on the lever will flash the lights, it does sometimes if you are very carefull. But in practice there is no feel to the thing and you end up pulling the lever past the "flash" point to full beam. So to flash the lights reliably, as others have said it's a double pull on the lever.

You don't need to remove the airbag or the wheel to change the arm - just the upper and lower shrouds on the column.

Stupid flash mechanism - it's really irritating.

A big thank you for the replys, i thought it was just me, on the times ive "flashed" other drivers out of a junction ive normaly blinded them by the time they get past :) lol, the new arm feels tighter than the other cant feel a half way point so il just av to fit it and see...
I thought i had to remove airbag etc so thanks kooky for that...
And il get back on here and report if it worked for the chaps that have the same problem, its just a little friggin niggle that gets soooooo fooookin anoyin at times.:D:D

Just an up-date.... fitted new indicator arm this morn and it was a doddle (thanks to KOOKY_GUY) i didnt have to take steering wheel off, any way it now "flashes" a treat... big thanks to Joe at Emmots of colne again :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
