I'm no expert on Landys so I hope this is allowed, but would appreciate any advice on this: Auto Trader UK - LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 TD5 COUNTY STATION WAGON

The dealer assured me that no touch up paintwork has been carried out, but clearly it has, on the rear cross member for instance, even the tow ball has been painted, and presumably so have the wheels.

And is it right for a 2002 110 to have a white roof and painted wheel arches? Looks like maybe it's had a complete re-spray.

Cheers for any advice guys.

As you have already found the dealer is telling lies why continue to deal with him. As soon as Trust is lost in the seller, It should be lost in the vehicle too. I bet if you ask him if it's had a new cam belt recently he will tell you yes. (they have a timing chain).

Walk away now. He doesn't deserve the trade.

Cheers guys. Good advice I reckon. Still need a nice 110.

It's a buyers market at the moment. Take your time. Watch out for dealers who will do anything to get a sale. They are bad enough at the best of times but with the recent slump in sales they are now getting desperate for money. In one sense it's good because you can pretty much name the price that you want to pay. On the other hand dealers will try every underhanded tactic to get you to buy. While the money is in your pocket you control the board. Once you have signed on the dotted line you instatly become scum.

I can see I've come to the right forum. Nothing like a Can Do attitude chaps.

Since you guys are so knowledgeable, how about this one, overpriced for sure but seems a minter for it's age. Phoned the guy, belonged to a doctor so not 'worked' I guess Land Rover Defender 110 County Station Wagon 11 seats on eBay, also, Land Rover Range Rover, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 06-May-09 20:51:14 BST)

To put it into perspective. I paid 3.5k for my 1999 110 csw last september. There's one the same age and mileage as mine on ebay at the moment for a lot more than that.

Landrover Defender 110 TD5 Special Vehicle on eBay, also, Land Rover Range Rover, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 11-May-09 15:13:41 BST)

Keep your eyes open for a bargain. Patience and perseverance are the key.

Really appreciate your input guys. About the older Landy question: I've got to come clean here, I know Jack **** about cars, am not a mechanic/engineer and don't have any tools/workshop and that's the rub. I have to pay retail for any servicing/parts and problems it may have, hence looking for a 'cleaner' one. That may be completely misguided I know, but without an experienced buddy to look over one or two for me I came here to you chaps.

I take the point about patience though - good point well made.

fill your location thing in, there's probably someone local ish who would come view the vehicles with you

haha white ones are always cheaper :) if you have the money, a well looked after late 300 tdi or the TD5s you have looked at will be ideal. That epsom green 110 would compliment my 90 on the driveway :D not paying 11.5k though!

what do you intend using it for?
