I only use my td5 to tow my carvan so for most of the time she sits on the drive.
I start her up once a week and do about 15 miles just to keep all the parts working etc.
I do not want to sell her, mileage 73,600 but I want to keep her in top condition.
I have a few quid to spend and thought I might replace the parts that can degrade over time.
I thought
1.Turbo hoses, silcone ones?
2. Fuel pump
3. FPR
4.Wheel cylinders
5.mass air flow meter
6.Water hoses
I have a about £1,000 to spend, do any of you guys consider these items worthwhile doing and what other items would you replace as well.

All fluids, condensation in a metal box (engine, diff housing, gearbox etc) can cause issues when a vehicle is stood for a while.

I'd get it as dry as I can and store it under cover if possible, so spend the money on a car-port or cantilever roof or larger garage .. ;)

That's what I'd spend my money on, a nice garage:D

And it would make your insurance cheaper (possibly:cool:)

Hi Malc, this budget of a grand,is this for parts and you do the work, or does the labour have to be paid for?

Assuming it's parts, I would replace:

1. Rubber air springs and ride height sensors - £250 (if it's got them?)

2. PAS and auto-box oil pipes - £150-ish

3. Any seal or gaskets that are causing oil leaks;

4. Discs & pads all round - £150

5. Rubber doughnut on rear prop - £35

6. All oils; coolant; brake fluid. £120-ish

7. Injector harness - £30

8. Propshaft u/j's x 3 - £30-ish

9. Tyres? - £600

10. Alternator/fan belt - £10

11. Coolant hoses - £45

12. Coolant ally top hose mount on head (brain fade - the one which houses the coolant temp sensor)

PS Not sure what you mean by your no. 4 - wheel cylinders????

Anything made from rubber ages with time, heat and vibration. So any hoses, seals etc should be replaced and they cost peanuts but can cause big problems.
How far do we go?

To be honest, I would've thought it'd be fine to give it a good blast for an hour once a month without any negative impact! perhaps pay someone to come and take it for a joyride every so often!
