Hi Folks
I'v had my 300 tdi for ten years now,I hadn't had it long ,when after several engine cut outs ,I wired the stop selonoid directly to the ignition switch, and a little while after that ,I fitted a switch to the glow plugs. A bit rough ,I know but after my old series 3 ,I just hadn't got patience with the crap that landrover had piled into what should be a utility vehicle, rendering it electrically unreliable.
Now I would like to finally remove the alarm, I live in north east Scotland, and the Disco is just a workhorselocated on our farm for the most part.
Can anyone explain how I can retain the central locking, but disconect the alarm, I'm fed up of it going on the blink,it doesnt immobilise after the selonoid being fed from the switch, but the hazards are a pest,as is the noise.

Cheers

Simplest way
To get rid of the noise just disconnect the under bonnet sounder and throw in bin.
To stop the hazards on locking and unlocking remove the headlight washer fuse. It's on the main fuse panel, the row of six fuses at the bottom, second from the left 20A.
Your headlight washers wont work as well as the hazards on lock/ unlock but i get the impression that doesn't matter.
The central locking will still work.

my 2oo tdi has an alarm fitted but came with keys and a smashed fob... i just use the key in the drivers door to activate the central locking.... alarm has never squeeked or flashed in five years...... am i right in thinking if you enter the eka code with the key in the drivers door the alarm is dead until you use the remote again?

Perfect ,.

Now how do I kill off the irritating red light, the one thats shaped like the disco, with a key superimposed on it ?
btw.the disco is the very basic 3 door model, never had headlight wash.

You need to remove the instrument binnacle and the undo instrument panel or if you're not fussy remove instrument binnacle, drill a small hole thro the display symbol and stick a nail thro it to pop the bulb.

Nice one, I wondered about just drilling a hole and killing the bulb, all that plastic tat just irritates the hell out of me.
IMO the series 11 had the best dashboard, the disco is just a triumph of style over design.

immobiliser cuts earths from relevant relays if you earth fuel solenoid relay starter relay etc you can then unplug alarm ecu you will still hve central locking but no waring light or sound

Thanks for that, earlier mods mean my disco runs and starts without the alarm module, see attachment,
Could you tell me what colours the relay bases relate to ? I only have a Haynes manual, and the description is sketchy.
Cheers
