Hi All,

Just joined ... bought a '96 4.6 HSE 2 weeks ago with LPG conversion. Has been running great both on a run and short journeys both on gas & petrol. Last Sunday had a major problem when the water feed that goes to the cabin heater (has a 'T' to the LPG) split .... got the breakdown people to get me home. Refilled the system ... overheated after about 5 miles ... cleared the bleed pipe before refill. Have tried several times. Refilled with coolant (50/50) yesterday .... 12 miles then overheats and blows all coolant out the overflow.
If I leave it on tickover with the cap off after a while it starts to go geyser-like!
I've been reading other posts re overheating and head gasket seems favorite .... waddaya all think? Given that it was running fine is it likely that the pipe burst caused the gasket to blow or vice-versa?

Cheers

With the cap on and the egine running, before it goes in to the red, is the top hose almost solid to the touch. The heads on these engines are dont like too much heat. When you had the cap off, did you notice any gas entering the expansion tank? There are numerous post's on the site so a search may actually provide you with the information you need.

disconnect the vapouriser from the system (link pipes together) as i had a fault wth mine putting high pressure lpg into the cooling system and blowing all the water out i then replaced the varporiser all sorted. Worth a try. Also air locks in the cooling system can be very difficult to get out the way i do mine is to disconnect the top rad hose and fill the engine until it comes out the rad and then do as per rave manual.
