G'day everyone, My 95 disco a nasty rust problem in the rear floor. Not unusual, I know. Anyone know why this happens in that particular area? Once i get it fixed, how do I stop it happening again? I really don't want to get rid of this Disco as it has given and still gives great service. One things for sure if it does go it will be replaced with another.
Cheers and Beers

PS is the rust caused by an electrolisis between the aluminium components and steel components??????

Thanx G-man, once this is repaired I will look for a better breathing altenative than the carpet and rubber underlay and make sure it's regularly aired. Pain in the butt but i can't see any alternative.

just bought one as well and it was swimming, threw away the foam **** it is a sponge, roof was the problem, the handle was in the locked position but was not holding the window tight, needed taken off and moved round a bit to pull the window tight in the locked position. no water yet, so sorted.

Tell me do you get a bit of slackness in your transmission on and off the throttle, trying to determine if my gearbox is fooked or not.

G'day David, Depending whether yours is manual or auto. If auto i would take a guess and suggest a good service on the auto and a look at the torque converter.
After owning and flogging this disco for the last couple of years the only mech. problems i've had apart from the usual LR oil leaks is a fully blocked radiator needing replacement shocking me with a cost of $1000 AU for replacement.
When i took possession of the beastie it was in real good nick. It,s now covered in scratches, the front bumper plastics are all but gone but i never bought it to go to the shops i bought it to do the LR thing get in the bush or the rocks or where ever i think there might be agood fishing or diving spot or just plain exploring. It,s all in good fun.

Cheers

My radiator was rotten when I got mine so I fitted a recon h/duty item from a company in Glasgow, cost £123 quid only problem I had later was the plastic bleeder plugs on the radiator and thermostat. they are hollow and one blew the head off in the middle of no-where, got back by inserting an 8mm bolt and nut with washers each side and clamping the hole together. made up new brass ones with domestic plumbing fittings, same thread all you have to do is solder the open ends up. Done both of them because the other one was rotten as well.

Thanx for your kindly pointers about my error. I'll take it on board. as far as the rugby goes 2 points, is that an arse kicking in your part of the world? Australia need a front row. Can't win a game of rugby without front row dominating.
