Hi.
I've no power to the starter solenoid once the ignition is turned to start. As far as I know there is no immobilizer on this car. If I short across the starter terminals the starter whirs but does not engage. Any ideas? Many thanks in anticipation.

Yes, you is not getting power to the solenoid switch wire, the little one on the starter, tis little one and the big red one you have to short, not the 2 big fookers.
 
the to big ones will just make the motor turn but not ingauge as above its the big one from batt (live) little one (switch feed) if you put a live to the little one it should work if the starters o.k if not then its the starter
