Hello all, I am wondering how I go about adjusting my clutch master cylinder and pedal. Mine is a 3.5 ltr V8 manual. Full of fluid, no leaks and relatively normal pedal pedal pressure. Thank you very much for your help!! Benjamin, Australia.

Hi Peter, thank you for responding. The clutch feels as though it doesn't have enough pressure and the gears (mainly second and fourth) crunch when pedal is fully pressed.

The first thing I would be doing is to replace the fluid in the hydraulic circuit.

Will take less than 200ml of Dot4 brake and clutch fluid.

You need an assistant to do it (unless you have an EeZeeBleed system) but is easy to do and quick.

All set to bleed. How is it done properly? I am having trouble regaining pressure. And thank you for your response!

I've done this on two different vehicles in the last week and this is how I did it:

1. Get your assistant ready in the drivers seat;

2. Prepare the clutch slave cylinder bleed nipple with a drain pipe and catch jar;

3. When you are ready with your spanner, get the assistant to press and hold down the pedal then you open and then shut the bleed nipple, then assistant releases the pedal. Do this several times until clean fluid is coming out with no air bubbles.

4. Ensure that the clutch master cylinder is kept topped-up with new fluid.

Should take 5-10 mins tops.

I had a similar problem with my 200tdi. The clutch would bleed correctly but just wouldn`t work very well, in the end found the seals in the master cylinder were passing.
Fitted a new master cylinder and has been fine since. Did a temporary fix??? by using ATF, it worked but was a bit slow on the clutch pedal!!!!!!!

Thanks guys, have done that although there is still a couple of inches of play at the top! I only have about 3/4 pedal pressure.
