my 2001 90 td5 85 k on the clock was running rough, so as you do i checked the injector loom and it was wet , i replaced it and checked the ecu until at last there was no more oil , i then changed the oil and filters sorted the egr valve but it is lacking in power and struggles to hit 60-70 mph and miss fires at high revs it also sounds like it needs or is getting to much air , i have checked all hoses seals etc and all is ok and changed air flow meter , have brought it to a garage and plugged it in to the magic black box , it is saying that there is a fuel pump problem ( not the pump in the fuel tank) and the man at the garage tells me that it will cost £1000 to have the pump recon, he says that it seems to be starved of fuel and will let me know tommorow what the problems is, have any of you had this trouble , if not and this is something new i will let you all know what is the problem and what is the cure , thanks for reading

Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator on the side of the engine? Drivers side near the back of the block. I know they are a pain to get to on D2 not sure on a 90.

They can leak and cause fuel pressure problems. You should see diesel leaking onto bellhousing or that area.

thanks andy i will try that, shifty i have changes the diesel filter, and checked that its not taking air, it runs fine until you put it under presure then it starts missing and wont excelerate, it struggles to hit 60 and thats revving it to the last ,also its only doing about 20 to the gallon, i was on the m4 the other day and an old 90 200tdi just left me for dead lol, lucky bastard

does the power cut in and out or is it just missing alltogether? If it's cutting in and out it may be worth trying a coolant temperature sensor. Mine was showing the correct temperature both on the guage and the diagnostic computer but it was still causing the engine to keep holding back. It cost me £16.
