90 td defender failed MOT emissions

Hi guys, was wondering if anyone could help?
Just got hold of a 90 td. Only done 113,000 miles, complete rebuild at 65,000 - sounds quiet but emissions high and smokey on idle, very slight lumpy tickover? Query injectors?

have yu tried running some injector cleaner thru it?

I am sure i have seen summat on here - run it on SVO? - try a search .

yeah have tried injector cleaner, although havnt run engine hard as off road no MOT - was wondering if new injectors would cure?

Definitely, put 50%svo in the tank (try it on a fraction of a tank first) and you'll sail the emissions. Then carry on running on it to save yeself a few quid too!

change the fool filter afte a cupple of weeks tho - coz all the **** will be cleaned out of ya tank at the same time. In fact some of the guys on here wot run SVO, carry a spare filter.
