Hi,

so I cracked a window in my 90 and I can't seem to find a replacement on any of the usual sites as this window configuration seems to be unusual. I did a search and didn't find any other pictures of 90's with this window set up. Anybody know where I would get replacement glass? or what this set up is called? (apart from ugly).

Cheers

It is a bit of flat glass. Should be many places to get it cut and you have a copy in the other one.

:confused: I didn't think it was that easy to get car glass cut, you learn something new.... I just checked, £97 for a bit of glass!!!! **** that! I'll stick some gaffer tape on it.

Either perspex as already said or a piece of toughened glass made to size
Perspex eventually dulls and scratches easily when rubbed against hedgerows. I replaced the perspex repair in my non-standard ones for a piece of tempered glass.

The local glass supplier did it for me no problem and it definitely wasn't that prices, might be worth phoning around some of the local suppliers and seeing what they can offer. The only problem I had was I had to give them another one as a template which meant I had to remove both side windows to get them to cut one! Might have been a bit more effort but it was definitely worth it.

My worry is that I will break the second one taking it out, I am having a run of bad luck breaking stuff at the moment :)

Here’s a few Qs
When you touch the glass can you feel the break both sides? This will prove if it’s normal glass or laminated(it would be in pieces if toughened)

Get some tape & tape both sides & remove this glass.
Pull the small bead out the black surround
Glass comes out easier.
There is a special tool to put this in which makes life easier on refitting

(Ps I could have popped in as drove past your road earlier;))

Definitly buy the special tool kit! is only a couple of ££ on ebay and makes the job a breeze. Cover everything in washing up liquid for both removal and refitting and it should all slide in and out with very little problem.
