my gilfriend point blank refuses to drive my 90 and her only excuse is that the clutch peddal is to heavy. its seems about normal to me, but can anyone suggest any thing to lighten the clutch. solong as its cheaper than geeting rid of the the girlfriend, il give it ago.:D
cheers!

That's how a land rover should be! Tell your girlfriend that your supposed to feel like your in control of a beast rather than just tickling the pedals in a puffy little tootler

Or change the cylinders as Mad suggested

ok we'll try that. but if it doesn't work i'll have to sell the beast. 5'7, blonde recent new boots.

unlikely - hydraulics work a bit like levers - a big master cylinder moves the slave a long way fur little travel of the pedal but lots of effort.
its a case of getting the correct ratio of one to other, and clutch lever length and pedal travel distance to effort required.

poor explanation - but best i can do at short notice ;)

Fit an inline brake servo.

Easy to do, works a treat, and makes the clutch about HALF the shove.

However, do you WANT her driving off with your landy?

absolutly, then she'll know how much needs doing to it:eek: , thus finances relinkuished. see, there's method in the madness:D

Super logic.

Servo is the way to go.

Find a servo that fits in the line .... and amplifies the hydraulic pressure.

My neighbour has one like this ina series we are building from the chassis up.

The servo works perfectly in the clutch line.

I might get a photo or details of the servo make / model.

I wouldn't put a servo on the clutch. What happens if you're being towed and you can't brake because you're brakes are also on a servo powered by the engine? You need to use your gears to brake. Will a servo not prevent you from being able to do this?

WTF?
So, you've never been towed then?

I've towed three vehicles since I got the disco.Another disco, a 110 deepender and a lwb hi-roof transit all on flat tarmac roads and everyone of them has driven over the towing strap. Fecking idiots. I told em to put it in gear and use the clutch and brakes to slow themselves down and to keep the strap tight. The transit driver got it wedged so far under the wheel I snapped the strap. So now I'm gonna stitch a lenght of elastic shock cord to the strap to stop it dipping on to the road when they over run.

I had to be towed today, that's what I'm saying. If you put a servo on the clutch you will need the engine running for it to work would you not? Therefore it would have no effect when lifting your foot of the clutch to engage the gear to slow you down. You're double buggered when your brake pedal turns solid and you can't use your clutch
