Hi, I plan on making my 90 truck back into a king cab this summer.

I think I'm going to go with the straight back and sides by cutting along the panels and roof, cutting my door in half and moving the top half further towards the front!

Then with the bottoms i plan on either welding a panel straight up from the tub to the bottom of the panels.

and with the roof i will split it from the join where it currently is and cut off what i need before sealing it and riveting it back on but shorter.

I can get hold of another tub to cut the bulkhead part off and weld that back in but i thought id go with the straight back..

Does that sound good?

Does anyone have any advice or pictures of king cabs they have done?

It seems that when i search through google there are not many conversions done or maybe I'm missing something.

Ill upload pics when i attempt this.

you'll need to be able to weld ally if you plan on welding the rear

Thats my worry, Maybe ally rivets?

I found these pics from another forum on how this guy did his.

he put a L shape strip down but i was thinking of possibly doing this on the inside where it is not seen as much unless another idea popped up

However i don't want the back to look this messy

Brought myself a rear door from ebay, actually in better shape than my current door i have on, won it for £5.50... really happy..

Im going to cut the top half off and create a "cat flap" upper tailgate window when i king cab..

Also I'm trying to source a few strips of metal, I need a couple of lengths of L shape angle capping in ally i think for the back sides, will 1mm thick be enough? Im going to pop rivet that on at the back to put the back and sides together.

Then i think i need some 2mm steel to rivet to the tub so i can rivet another rear bulkhead in position.

Where can i get the metal bits i need from?

Just saw this post and i have to say using a door at the back of the cab as in the example you showed looks, i think they say, Pants!:D Much neater with a sliding window and maybe small windows in the rear side panels.

Yes mick i agree with a sliding window, but my options were either buy a series upper tailgate window/door which go for silly money, make my own as it seems others have done on here before, block it up all together and just have 2 small windows in the back which i currently have (which i really didnt want to do)

Or get hold of a window that slides and cut the hole and fit that myself, which if I'm honest I'm sure that i would manage to screw up :)

Ive been thinking about this for quite a while but if i can get hold of some 2mm ally 90degree angle metal for the rear and some nice strong L shape steel so i can rivet my other rear bulkhead onto then I'm half way there. I may even scrap putting in a rear bulkhead and just use a sheet of chequer plate from the bottom of the tub to the bottom of the rear panels.

That would work. Tiger seal between panels before you rivet is a good job. The roof on my 110 had a sunroof cut in for hunting. I riveted a piece of galv steel over the hole with tiger seal and have had no problems. And it rains a lot here.

Fitted my lovely second hand sails bury axle today on my tod, only took me a couple of hours by myself which i was surprised about..

It could benefit from a new diff pan but I'm not running the truck until ive finished all the bits and bobs i need to get done.

Got a bit of a problem with the brake line, it was really really rusty but i managed to get the pipe off i just need some info as to what i need to order now..

Inside the diff... No idea about these things so I could only guess if it works fine until i check it, nothing seemed broken or damage and the halfshaft that spun around made things spin inside so time will tell i guess!

This bit is from my main brake pipe that goes down and then splits to each drum, not sure the name but i need to order one.. anyone?

The brake pipe that i need to replace, same again rusted to hell just like the surrounding things on the chassis. Think i might need to replace the whole lot or try and find a bit which i can get off without it rounding off or crumbling to nothing.

Axle in without the prop on and last trailing arm + shock.
