hi guys,
I've got a 90 on a H reg (don't know if that helps but thought I'd mention) the problem is my sidelights work and the flash work with no issue but I have no dipped lights, at all, on either side.

things I've done so far;

-checked the filaments in both bulbs
-checked all the fuses and they are fine
-switch works fine and used a second to double check
-tested power to the switch at both stages

and ideas???

are the relays clicking when you switch on low beam ? normally found by fuse box

yeah, kind of not so much a click as more of a crackle noise.
im new to the electrics side of the cars, as you have probably guessed..

not to be a pain, but does anyone know the part number for the relay as my parts supplier is only able to find the dip/dim relay?

Mate had the same Issue with his Indicators in his 300TDi and his relay crackled, Turned out to be the fuse was OK but wasnt making a good connection and they use Blades, Try swapping the fuse or cleaning the contacts up and see if that helps

I have seen the contacts on the inner end of the stalk, ie, the rivets on the plastic circuit board, where there has been heat in the contacts and the surrounding plastic has melted, causing the contacts to fail.
This has happened to vehicles that have had higher powered bulbs put into the headlight units.
Hi/Lo contectors need to be checked, which is very easy to do by removing the cowl from around the steering column.

Timpo.
