I have (I'm pretty sure, anyway) an original non-lockable fuel filler cap on my 1987 petrol 90.

looks like this

Will an after-market lockable fuel filler cap screw right in or are modifications needed?

Nope won't screw on its much bigger, think you can buy a kit which basically changes the filler neck so a normal sized cap would fit, I just stuck to the big fuel cap only a £5 to replace

Yeah but I'm a little bit worried that some opportunist might steal the cap / attempt to syphon the fuel out.

Would you be so kind as to supply a link to aforementioned kit to change the filler neck size?

Thanks

What is the point of the non-locking cap? Sigh..

What can be done? a kit was mentioned but with no details.. anyone?

If you was in a war and needed to refuel, would you want to look for keys to open the cap of would you want to refuel with engine running for quick get away?

You can change the filler neck, from scrappy or similar

It seems that these caps are pretty expensive. Might make £30 on ebay for the old one.. that should offset most of the cost of the conversion kit..

sible88, how easy is it to replace the filler neck? it's not something i've ever tried to do.

4 Allen keys on body
Over flow pipe to take off (jublie)
And main fill pipe (big jublie)

Very easy ;-)

Be prepared to buy two new clips and bolts due to rust

You could always buy a cheap hasp and staple from a DIY shop and fit that? Cheapest way of changing it to a locking one
