90 300tdi cutting out problem. HELP!

I was coming home from work earlier and just round the corner from house i was going along, i had my music so i couldnt here and the engine cut out, i only realised when i had to go. i started it again (it took a bit of going) and i went another 3/4 of a mile it cut out again, then had trouble starting it again, and then straight away i moved and it cut it. It sounded like it was stalling, but it wasent in gear... or coughing? i couldnt rev it... i just managed to get it on my drive and have a good look over it for split hoses etc. but nothing, ive just changed to filters and it normally starts fine everytime...

i looked at another forum with someone with sameish problem and the said check filter, hoses and that maybe it was the lift pump?

yes lift pump is common , fuel is sucked from tank to lift pump the pumped through filter to injection pump , any slight leak before lift pump will allow air to be sucked in as will a poor lift pump but not necessarily show and fuel loss

Check stop solonoid as well in case somehow that is energising or mechanically activating
