'88 RRover Chassis No - locating

Hello
One that I'm looking at has the VIN/ID plate missing from its usual visible place. Is the no. etched anywhere else on the chassis?

I was told its on the drivers side front of the chassis just in front of the shock mount but theres nothing there on mine.

should be a chassis number stamped into the chassis just in front of the o/s/f spring mounting turret.

shows where it should be.
