Hi,

I find my 2005 Vogue feels every bump in the road. Consequently I'm not finding the ride particularly smooth.

I do have low profile tyres but I'm convinced the air bags etc are tired. The car does have 80k miles on the clock.

I did purchase the Vogue specifically for the ride comfort. I plan to have the car for 4 years so I'm keen to improve the ride.

Do you think it is worth replacing all the air bags considering the car's age. Would this improve the ride significantly?

Regards,

Mark

I would want to inspect the bags first before deciding on replacing them. They are very expensive so it would be wasteful if replacement didn't solve your problem. There are so many suspension-related items that might be at fault it seems a bit unfair to pick on the air springs! My L322 is a 2003 on 132k miles but the ride seems lush and its still on its original set. Aren't low profile tyres known to reduce ride quality? Maybe someone here can say by how much.

It's your daft tyres causing the bad ride. Something you have to live with. Unless you are made of money, changing the air bags on a L322 is a major outlay.

If after 120k miles you're still on your original bags then maybe it's something else.

The ride did seem to go to pot after I had the air suspension calibrated after a height sensor replacement. The guy did it completely wrong the first time and adjusted the height much too low.

I may have a chat with the local Range Rover dealer......see what they can suggest. Obviously they'll try and part me from my hard earned cash.

Yea they can be set to different comfort heights, I would say its that, but your tyres wont help, also check you tyre pressures as well

If the calibration is wrong and it's riding too high, it will make the ride harder, but I go with the others, wheels and tyres, drug dealers are not normally worried about the ride:eek:

tyres 100%

i fitted 20" on my l322 with lower profile tyres compared to the original 18" rims, not proper low profile but a thinner wall.

definietly made it a harder ride, but improved the handling alot, as there pretty bouncy with the standard wheels and so didnt corner very well at all. since changing the wheels the drive is alot better.

If your on 22" wheels they are known to give a crap ride .mines done 116K its on 20" vogue alloys and the ride is spot on ,
