Hi All, I'm having a problem starting my series 3 and the following sequence of events might help:
A week ago it was running erratically at idle with some spluttering and misfiring.
I tried to start her a few times this week and it was cranking but would not start so I recharged the battery fully and replaced the coil. It still won't start and all I'm getting is a clicking sound after turning the key!! Very frustrating but do I look at the solenoid or what's the next logical step?

Cheers for your help in advance

yes and terminal nuts and cable running to starter, jump leads if decent size can be used to give an earth and help too starter cable, if it helps cables poor ,same with using the one as earth between engine and battery, though its possible starter is buggerd or brushes due to all that cranking ,cranking with a poor battery is also bad for starter,as for ignition you should change plugs ,leads, cap ,contact set and condenser, coil as a set

Ah bugger, I'll get the leads out tomorrow and give it a go. I do remember cranking her a bit so it could be damage to the starter. Have a new condenser, points and leads to go in this weekend too.
