Today I swapped BCU on 2005 RR HSE.

However when disconnecting cables, I noticed that there is also 6-pin plug what was not connected to anything. A quick inspection did not reveal anything nearby where that cable can be plugged.

Do you know what it is for?

No idea, don't know the car or the connections it should have but that doesn't look oem. Is the one on the right covered in tape!?
Maybe it's been for some third party tracker or similar telemetrics device?

Well, all of them are covered with tape. The 6-pin one I am talking about is the one stucking out and not plugged in.
I've also got opinion that it might be there for features that was not installed in the car.
I didn't think you could just swap a BCM without coding it to the car?
Yes, I was reading about this as well - there were feedback that you need to enter your VIN and code it. This post also mentioned that it required recoding.

But swapping worked for me and the feedback I got from several other forums are that if the hardware and software versions are identical, it should be plug and play.
