Dart iron eagle sport block - 2700 pounds plus VAT

STANDARD Chevy 350 block 675 plus VAT

The nascar ones are re-bored over and over so are thrown away as the walls become too thin.

Anyway sell the boat and get yourself a Buick Riviera or a Mustang or a camaro.

There is a camaro with a 383 stroker in great nick for 8 grand on pistonheads - your boat must be worth more than that.
 
Nice price!

Probably couldn't sell that boat for a sensible price these days tbh because of the fuel consumption, the market has really gone for the big guzzling boats :(

noisy I am sorry but those two 454's you got have to come out of the boat and go one a piece in me and your motors :D

btw they do overheat in the hot bits of America on hills and like. You gotta watch motor trends "roadkill" you tube videos, they always overheat lol. the one with the 55 chevy uses a surburban 454 as a tow vehical, that boils lol . love the vids :D

Funny you should mention it fett but I just recently got into those motor trends videos!

Oh my GOD the drag week video is just unreal.

Cruising those dragsters on the street is absolutely sick :eek:

The 454s will be staying put in the boat for a rainy day thankyou, one still hugely holds passion for boats, cars are just a LOT easier to play with more regularly!! :rolleyes:
 
lol, I am a boatbuilder by trade, worked on them for many years so not so keen on them now lol.

that 73 surburban is still my fave on the roadkill vids its just so honest, and ita like my 72 rrc big brother- paint and all lol. the orange road runner is nice :D
 
Right well in which case that's completely fair enough, can't expect a man to like something which he works with!

This is why I hate all cars (ish) :D

Yeah the suburban is cool, we were just chatting about it the other day, proper chilled lounging around on the HUGE bench seat running a relaxed 7.4ltr :p

remember 1 of them needs the rotation chaged for a car or it will have 5 speeds reverse:pound::pound::pound::pound:

Less salesman full stop, more sales mechanic paint&body everything, but effectively yes I work with my old man, and recently my bro!

Regards the rotation, obviously the engines spin the same way, just the out drives select opposite gears and the props are opposing pitch! :)
 
Yeah it's not bad basically, it definitely sounds more rosy in theory, I mean playing about with that TVR sorting out various troubles was lovely, but for instance at the moment we have a 95 Suzuki Cappucino that I am half way through stripping to bare shell because it has HUGE rust problems, nearly got the front subframe/engine assembly out, hoping to have just the shell on a trolley by end next week to start repairs, this is a pleasant job in theory but I HATE RUST and don't especially like the Cappucino, and then there's the 02 60k polo that has worn the valve guides and needs the head off and why would I enjoy removing the head on a dull 3pot 1.2 polo?

So it's not ALL good fun :rolleyes:

But basically it usually is not too bad/dull :D

Not really! It's a bit of a hole that we've got to dig ourselves out of, basically the car owes us too much because we didn't realise how bad it was :rolleyes:

Therefore we think that the only option is to do a proper job then it will be worth more money, and at least the work will pay for itself, hopefully.

Not a situation anyone wanted to be in!!

Well, you have me surprised!

These engines definitely rotate the same way, it is also obvious that the gear linkages are reversed on one of the out drives.

Anyway, that's very interesting, not something I knew about.

This boat is an '89 with Mercruiser marinised Chevy motors so maybe by then they were more mass production or perhaps the transmissions were more advanced?

Would love a link on that for a good read!! :)
 
is it a stern drive jobby? they used to have counter rotating props. pretty sure the gearbox did the work.

That was on old ones too, as I have not been fookin about with them for the last 10 years or so and they were old boats even then.

Noisey by that time 89 and as Fett said, I think the counter rotation was done in the transmission.

With the old counter rotating marine twins the motors firing order was different and the starter turned the opposite way. Causing problem for the DIY people not wanting to buy marine parts. They would go to the chevy dealer and get a standard car starter, fit it and fook up the motor was a parts nite mare. So the rotation was done in the transmission. But need to be aware of older counter rotating motors are out there Mopar had some also but the clue is the firing order on the intake as to first clue :p Somrtimes it pays to be a old git ;):D
