Hi
I have the same problem and have taken the motors out and tested them on the bench and both work ok. Now think that it is the hevac panel in the dash that has packed up. I lost one motor last year and the other this year and the passenger blend motor has also packed up leaving only cold air

Regards Craig

The motors have a plastic geartrain inside which drives a potentiometer, either teeth will strip or the potentiometer track breaks down. The HEVAC has to learn the travel of the blend flap from open to closed and this is achieved by reading the analogue signal from the potentiometer during the calibration process when the motors are driven from open to closed with the software. If the HEVAC does not know the open/closed positions it will keep trying to drive the blend motor and can cause the gears to strip or the feedback cannot be read correctly and the book symbol comes up.
Look at Blend Motor Replacement in RAVE, Electrical section.

well I got mine apart this weekend, checked the wiring to the passenger side motor, changed the relay just incase and hey presto, up it came. Unfortunately by the time I put it back together it stopped working again but I tested the relay and thats fine. I'm thinking there must be a loose wire somewhere.... damn!!!

Assuming you are referring to the blower motor-could be that the relay socket in the fusebox is dodgy. Get your nose in the fusebox & have a sniff for traces of burning-they are known to play up, also check the fuses and sockets for signs of burning.

Yes, the blower motor. There is signs of burning around one of the pin holes for the blower relay. Is it possible to clean these up or will it need a new fuse box?

Cheers

Yes in a nutshell. Engine bay fusebox failure is well documented and can often be misdiagnosed as BECM problems. It has been put forward that due to the close proximity to the coolant tank that either spillage or vapours from the 50% antifreeze mix causes corrosion on the underside of the card which carries the relay and fuselink sockets. If buying second hand, do the sniff test, remove all fuses and relays and if there is even the slightest hint of burn marks-walk away.
