there asking for other clubs to join further reading says they are after a network of 4x4 rescue.
just asking asi saw them on the bbc news earlier

**** that pay to join and sort out other peoples **** for free, as a volunteer no fecking chance.

After doing recoveries for a living it's bad enough being paid for it sometimes, without risking ****ing up your vehicle for free

Not a chance in hell, sounds like cock sucker fan club-if it's that bad call the army in in their landrovers

well i am a member of BORG, in the last snow most of what we did was help out hte coppers, get paramedics where they needed to go etc - not recovering other vehicles.

fanatic, i agree to an extent. but there are some services that really struggle round here, and if i can help out with a paramedic whose ambulance is stuck getting to a call, or whatever then i enjoy doing it. before xmas i was out recovering an ambulance that was gonig to a cardiac call, the would have been stranded all night had 4x4 response not called me out and then as a result me towing him out

so yea, i dont mind doing it when working in conjunction with the emergency services etc. 4x4 response in my understanding isnt recovering people usually

If they wanted to really be of use and attract people.
1)agreed value if your vehicle written off
2)group insurance
3)pay for any breakages and repairs

I can not see for the life of me why hospitals etc don't have prevision for people to either kip at another staff's house/book them a hotel room or give them an unused bed.

Also the army have the tools that they could be deployed to do meals on wheels etc.

Tell me how snow ridden countries survive? sprinkling of snow and it grinds to a halt.

my csw has crap skinny barely legal tyres and diff lock and gentle calm driving=fine.

As others have said we pay enough, country shouldn't grid to a ****ing halt on a known event.

dude i agree, i am half german

one major part of the reason this country is so **** with te snow is because "we only recieve one or 2 days major snowfall a year"

well this year we had a major amount of snow in february, and again before christmas, and again now. there isnt enough money being put towards adverse weather equipment and provisions and what not

in many countries where more snow fall is normal it is a requirement for people to have winter tyres. you can get pulled over and fined pretty hefty amounts of money if you dont use your winter tyres in adverse conditions. in germany all the people i know have a set of winter tyres in the garage or barn or whatever, and chuck em on as soon as there is word of snow.

that along with the fact that people are more used to driving in snow means they can cope better.

as above anyone a member.... 4x4 Response Network Welcome

Yes, lots of us are, but as always on here the 'I'm alright Jack', 'Why should I put myself out for others', 'What? You want me to pay, surely you should pay me!' brigade always shout loudest.

BTW that's a general comment, not particularly aimed at any specific people.

We've just started a West Midlands 4x4 Response Group as there wasn't anything around here.

People who "get it" welcome to join, those who "don't get it" welcome to shout about how they're not going to join ;)

they do offer some sort of liability cover

In case you get sued-so as I said before mugs game

So unless they cover fuel used and not some nominal mileage fee and any damage-forget it.

The government knows what can happen, so armed forces could be put on standby.

Government Crucify 4x4 owners 99.9% of the time and then beg for their help- **** them.

If neighbours can't show compassion to each other by keeping an eye on vulnerable members of society-this PC correct crap has failed

i posted it as i say i saw it on the news think its a mixed bag. i always think it could be my mum or sister wife daughter or who stuck so y not help. think carpys got it right by helping emergency services first.
wouldn't you moan if the government had spent milllions of money on equipment to just sit and rot in a yard somewhere until may be just one were need it????
think there doing the best they can

Funny enough I have offered to help people on here for free, even offering to go to them.

If I was out and about and someone has a problem and looks properly in the ****, provided help for free.

What I'm saying is that the government is taking people for mugs asking for volunteers why couldn't the army land rovers be driven by armed forces/police.

Either make suitable arrangements or stay at home, there is no good reason to have everything grind to a halt.

Instead of buying snow plough machine, buying snow plough attachments and contracting more farmers.

and to be fair we get paid full fuel expenses, we get plastered with food, coffee, tea and what not at the police station, or i did anyway. i can live with that - especially when it involves things like getting cops to check on vulnerable and isolated members of the community, getting paramedics and ambulances about to help people that need it and may be seriously injured, and also if needs be get carers out to their patients if hey are in really isolated places

i can live with that

oh, and its also a bit of good press for 4x4's. you lot are always moaning about people and the government taxing us and not liking us as a usergroup as a whole, well if land rovers are seen helping paramedics, and doing things like this it changes peoples perceptions - and i can live with that also

well said that man!!

Sounding slightly better, answer me this
You attend a call out and it all goes tits up (who's paying vehicle repairs and is it a claim on your insurance)

As I said before why can't police etc commandeer army land rovers or for that case hire 4x4-I'm of the opinion that a bit of snow and it turns to ****-how do norway and Sweden cope?
