as i said i dont have a prob with p.ms but when someone asks things not to be shared with the rest of the forum it makes them look suspicious even though they may not be. as i also said the contents of the p.m could quite easily have been put on the bottom of the thread for a couple of days or even a day so that people who might have been looking at the thread would understand its removal. were supposed to be a group here so why feel the need to hide it. as i said we are grown ups and none of us want to see harm come to the forum but the mods should have a bit more faith in us as members.

it int about whether it should be kept secret. The point is. It is forum policy that anyone posting the contents of a PM can be banned for the offence regardless of it's contents. This is to stop mindless ****wits from posting sensative private information about another member.

For instance If I got a PM off someone claiming that another member was a kiddyfiddler and posted that PM. It would cause the accused a lot of aggrivation and stress. especially if it later turned out to be untrue..

as i stated i dont have a prob with p.ms being private. what i do have a prob with is stating something that could easily have been put up as a post being sent as a p.m. if the forum is worried about legal action because of the members post then why not say so in public. the idea of sending the information as a p.m and then telling the member not to mention it isnt on. as i said we are grown ups and can handle a post being removed because of legal worries but i for one dont like the idea of posts being removed and members privetely messaged and advised not to tell anyone. if they had put the reason for removing the thread we might have had someone on board who could have offered legal advice. by keeping it secret it just makes them look bad and puts thoughts into members heads that probably wouldnt be there if they had been open about it. so for hopefull the last time I DO NOT OBJECT TO THE PRINCIPLE OF P.Ms JUST THE PRINCIPLE OF THIS ONE BEING MADE A P.M.

I dont actually think there was any threat of legal action. and until i see proof of this i will continue to believe so. I think the mods on this forum got nervous and made it all up. i spoke to david Beaumont several times and told him what i thought so if he was going to issue proceedings he would have done it against me personally. It was also me who pointed him to my posts on this forum.

This guy has done no worse than Beaumonts did to me except the product i did recieve from them was just as insulting as recieving nothing. I ended up getting an independent to check out the vcu they sent me. It was founf to be totally wrong and not what i should have got. I junked the BS VCU at a cost of over £200 plus my time fitting and removing and ended up buying one from Bell which is working perfectly. The BS VCu was also way out of balance which inturn could have caused more damage to my IRD and rear diff due to vibration. and boy did it vibrate.This also prompted me to replace manyn other parts on my drive train to try to iliminate the vibration costing 100's of pounds.

I used this forum to warn people not to buy from these as i felt they were ripping people off. Cheers landyzone for helping to protect your members.

As far as the pm went, Well i didnt consider it to be private to myself hence the reason i posted it. If you dont agrre with my posts or anything i say then ban me.

There seems to be alot of double standards go on on this forum.

well i havnt got an attitude and dont think my post was arrogant but i would like some clarification on whether its worth bringing up bad service to let other members avoid as i did when i posted my concerns regarding my insurance company or if posts will get pulled for legal reasons. i watched with interest the ird thread and the guys attempts to bully people into removing their opinions and feel that more openess would be a help. i still say that if a company gives good service or in some cases bad then we should be able to say this in an informitive way without fear of it being removed and or the poster being banned. if the forum does have any affiliates with companies that havnt given the best of service then they really should come forward and say. were all supposed to be on here to help each other as thats what i thought the idea of a forum was about.

I have a lot of respect for the owners of this site and appreciate the forum they provide for us and have no desire to make it more difficult for them BUT I do think that there is an issue here that could be resolved in a much better way........

I just don't think that way is to make unfounded accusations and to generally behave like a cock......again, my opinion.

No double standards, say whatever you like, discuss reasonably or not, get banned for no constructive reason or not......I couldn't really care less apart from I do think you have a valid point about warning other members. But thats going nowhere if you just wanna troll

guys can we not have this turn nasty or the meaning of the thread will get lost and i believe this is quite an important thread. we could def do with a sticky that can be added to where members can post objective comments on the places they received good or bad service. if these posts are written correctly then there should be no legal worries and if reps from these companies want to respond then they should be allowed to. if td4s thread was thought to be illegal then maybe he could have reworded it to still let others know of the bad(in this case) service he got. if we make it unbiased where people can put up stories of good service as well as bad then i cant see how it can be a bad thing. if you want your company to make it onto the good list then give good service and beasty i agree with your statement and am thankful for the guys who set up and run this forum but to be honest its the members that make a good forum.

so rob does that mean by association that all the poor sods that got ripped off by the ird guy who seemed to warrant a sticky should join us or do you not consider them moaners? im sure 1 or 2 of them who spent good money only to get less than they were expecting would like to know what you think of them. if you thread reads right then anyone who complains about a dealer or garage is just a moaner. perhaps its you that should make a forum called GARAGE ASSLICKERS ARE US and who mentioned landy garages? im on about any garages both those that give good service and those that dont so that those of us who just enjoy driving our cars and not stripping them down can have a decent guide as to who to take them to for the best service.

had i wasted money buying one of the mentioned units from the mentioned company i would have taken legal action against them if wasn't mentioned in the advertisment openly and clearly in line with trading standards.
