Driving home today and after around 100 miles noticed the high setting come on in the dash accompanied by all 4 trancient lights lit (not flashing) and no eas message, drove a further 50miles home with no problem other than being stuck in high mode.
Weather conditions were awful on the motorway could this have been the cause.

don't worry just check the eas filter next to the engine , or park the car on a straight place ( no up no down ) and after a while go and turn the ignition key to second position .. if the problem persists , then there's some problem btween the eas and the BeCM .

GOOD LUCK .

Not that simple, stick it on Testbook and see what has upset it.

Thanks 8, I still haven't found a specialist near to me (Gatwick) so I will have to book it in at the main dealers again.

I think I know what might have caused it. Just stripped the pump down and fitted new piston and liner and renewed the seals, the old piston seal was knackered as were the o-ring seals. I bought this kit a little while ago as the pump seemed to be noisy and was running most of the time. I know I should have fitted them sooner but the only times I've had to do the job it was ****ing down. So got to get it booked in at a main stealer now to get it reset and see if I'm right.
For anyone considering doing this to their own pump, it was quite easy and took me just over an hour.

John,

If you're south of Gatwick, you may find Gumtree at Ditchling Common helpful. I had mine down on the bumpstops, with a hard fault, so I pumped it up manually (jumping connectors) as they couldn't do it 'til the next day.

I drove it down there and they read/reset it while I waited - they reckoned a front height sensor was out of range, probably caused by a pothole, and recalibrated it. I think they charged me £30.

While he was at it, he checked my compressor (by putting his thumb over the filter port) and advised me it was quite weak. I thought about changing the seal, but bottled it and bought a rebuilt LR compressor (not from Gumtree). I will replace the seal on my old (now spare) one, though.

Years ago I had an old Disco and had a couple of dealings with Gumtree (then at Plumpton) with that - but mainly just picking their brains. The only 'work' they've ever done for me was my EAS reset, but I think they're pretty knowledgeable and helpful.

Might be worth a shot for you in future.

Cheers Rod
Someone in work also suggested Gumtree, I'm taking it there this afternoon, certainly sound freindly on the phone, will let you know how it goes.

OK, Gumtree were excellent, called in while they were at lunch and drove out 15mins later, cost was less than a third of my local main dealer and 36hrs faster.

What was it, tho'?

Have you got Rave and Microcat?

I'm glad you got a good service, it's good when you can feel pleased - rather than p***ed off - about a workshop.

Rod

Came up as front sensor out of range but when tested after clearing using 'autologic' there were no faults and since I overhauled the pump it's changing hieght very quickly but it does seem still to be running to often so may have a small leak somewhere.
Yes I have Rave although I haven't made a disc yet, I also have the L/R workshop manual in pdf format.
