Hi there everyone,
I've got a 99 P38 Range Rover with a 4.0l v8 on gems8 ignition. I have recently rebuilt the engine due to suspect loose liners however when refitted and come to getting back on the road I cant get it to run.
The engine will start and idle (rather lumpy when cold then a bit smoother when warm) but wont rev up, it just coughs splutters and fires through the exhausts. I have replaced the MAFF with no results. I disconnected the crank sensor and it wouldn't start so I presume thats ok. Next I thought throttle position sensor however when using a cheap obd tool it was registering so I presumed that to be ok. I thought maybe the cam sensor, but apparantly they would run without it anyway. I'm pretty confident my rebuild is sound as all clearances etc. were checked and all ok as well as the timing chain being pretty difficult to get wrong.
Is there anyone who could offer any much appreciated help or advice?
Cheers, Craig
