plenty oil init no smoke didnt over heat didnt loose power or any thing was just sitn idleiing the started noking

Hard to say sounds like its coming from drivers side top, but then who knows, what are they like to strip down

a cud rebuild a mitsi 2.5td lump ne botha but this looks complicated. will have a look during the week and c what a can find

Is it knocking or tapping, and when at tick over or or when reved or under load, hot or cold. more info needed.

havent had time to have a look yet but the tap nock gose away over 2500 rpm then let off and it comes back, dose it hot or cold

If it sounds like a machine gun only when the engine is under load then it's the manifold to Y pipe leaking as I found out.

had a look at motor and found a loose head bolt under rocker cover

No thred was fine bolt was fine. turned it in by hand all the way first. very commfused to why it came loose but happy it was just that
