aslong as i don't spend all of the money i have/get from student loan and dad, i could be out of my overdraft and be able to afford 1 and insure it by the end of may  I want one now though! :p

get a v8! You know you want to ;) just make sure you dont do what i did with my first disco was get to excited/ fall in love when you first see it and buy a rot box! haha

I wont do that don't worry - i owned a 1982 mini, i know all about rot boxes :rolleyes: and i'm very good at researching and getting a bargain - i have alot of spare time and worked at a small landy specialist for a year :p

I did look at the V8, the insurance is actually cheaper for me (20YO student) which i didn't understand! but i wouldn't be able to deal with the reduced MPG - but they do sound amazing!

Same for me on insurance looked at getting a 300tdi but v8 was cheaper! look into v8 with LPG fitted. Makes it reasonable to run at 70-80p per litre :)

does it increase the MPG? or just make it cheaper per gallon?

On my previous v8 with lpg, would average 14mpg and get 19ish on a run so at say 75p per litre means it was average cost about 25p per mile, a tdi at 144per litre average of 25mpg = 26p per mile so pretty much identical costs

Is it any less reliable and simple as the 300tdi? I was also planning to tweak the fuel pump+turbo, egr and decat on the diesel to increase power and mpg slightly

I have never had any engine problems with any of my v8z , doing those mods would drive insurance up higher! you can get v8s re mapped but pointless on LPG as different system, but can get better cams etc, i think if your after abit of performance the dark side is the way to come! ;)

That's true, the quote didn't change when i said i modified the exhaust, but i didn't specify how i had modified it because it didn't ask? guessing they'd want to know exactly what i did?

Not really looking for performance, but it would be nice! i do have a heavy right foot, and i was hoping that the diesel would make it abit lighter due to the different driving style needed?

I am very tempted by the V8 now though... what have you done to me ;)

Haha! V8s you can pick up abit cheaper than tdi, only one real downside to lpg is filling the thing up, not available at all stations, but can get it at a fair amount of places, just not out in sticks may be worth you looking locally to see if you could fill it up anywhere before you get to excited ;)

I'm sure fueling would be alright, live north of the M5/M4 junction slightly, quite near Bristol so there would be somewhere there, and during term time i live in the center of Plymouth, must be somewhere around there :p

yeahh, and alot of the v8's i've seen have leather ;) not that that's important or anything :rolleyes:

Only issue then would be finding a manual one :p
