300tdi turbo

Hello to all..
The turbo unit on my 95,300tdi,110 hardtop all of a sudden started making a massive whinning noise.It sounded like a rabbit being choked to death...a bit scary at first.There was a loss in power and increase in noise if revved.When the engine is cold there,s no noise.Could it be the gaskets, or something more serious?...any advice would be much appreciated on kits if available...thanks..

Sounds like the bearings have gone, possibly so seriously theres enough movement for the blades to touch the housing. Id get it whipped off and checked out!!!
