Right before you say do a search I have already. nowt there unless i'm blind
Right after comparing "like blokes do, lol" my mates tensioner squeeks and mine doesn't but i have noticed that when the engine is running the arm of the tensioner moves up and down and his doesn't

Now his is a new tensioner and mine must be old, so is it correct that it "bounces". I know it's job is to keep the belt tightish.

So what do you think, or what does your do?

His tensioner has probably seized. undo it and free it off with some wd40. When he refits it get him to put a penny behind the tensioner in the 9 o'clock position. The squeak will vanish.

Cheers ratty I've heard someone say that before, now that i remember.
But is mine supposed to move like that??

Don't know if this helps but, my ****part water pump starting making a noise after only 3000 miles and while I was under the bonnet listening to it I noticed the tensioner bobbing up and down quite a bit (about 3mm or more). Anyway I thought that's just how it is but after fitting the new water pump it doesn't move at all. Bearings where gone in Britpart pump by the way so might be worth checking.
