300tdi reverse light problem

i have a 300tdi and the reverse lights only come on when you hold the gear stick towards you any ideas anyone many thanks chris

mine dont work at all.ive read on here before that it could be the switch or the bit inside the box that pushes the switch.supposed to be a nasty job

the switch needs adjusting, it's a bit of a bugger to find first time so here ya go

btw mine passed it's mot in August like this and it's still like this now but that might be down to the tester.

they arent adjustable on the 300 tdi unless you remove sealing washer

I didn't know that, good job I hadn't got round to trying to adjust it. I'd have been there all day

Dont think they are part of the MOT.

I had a problem with a motor home and the reversing lights. Because they are at the back, when you get past the gates you can't see anything. So I got a couple of bolt on light and mounted them underneath behind the front wheels, wired to the reversing light circuit with a relay. The MOT guy said it was fine as there were no regs about reversing lights at all. Hope this helps

You are absolutely right.

mines passed 2 mot with a dodgy reversing light..

ok thank you all for your help just got welding to do now to pass it for another year will be pleased to get it back on the road with all the trouble ive had
