Hey guys, I've got a 300tdi auto that seems to have power loss at 3k revs.. When it happens it gets to 3k then drops to near 2.5k then revs back to 3k or just above it then back down. It doesn't do this in 1st or second though. For fuel consumption reasons I barely go over 2.5k revs anyway and don't know how long its been doing it. I will admit I made a mistake a few months back and put petrol in it and had to have it flushed out after it wouldn't start one morning, so don't know if that's done something. Also the turbo pipe ripped open and has now been replaced, Otherwise it runs fine, starts very well and like I said only noticeable at 3k revs in top 2 gears.

Any ideas? I was going to see if draining the sediment tank would do anything or bypassing it. Or does this sound like the lift pump?

Cheers in advance

If there was an intermittent blockage in the fuel supply, all these symptoms would be displayed.

By intermittent, i mean something that gets sucked up in high fuel demand, and then falls back again.

Ive heard (but not experienced) lumps in the sedimenter doing this kind of thing.

Sounds like your wastegate is stuck shut and the EDC module is cutting the fuel to stop it overboosting. I had the same problem with my auto and the fact that it's 3K RPM makes it sound like the wastegate.

Im sure autos with ecu have a safety feature to stop revs if the engine is overheating so maybe check your coolant or maybe thermostat, just a guess
