Hope you dont mind this topic yet again. I have had three disco 1s 300tdi over last twelve years My first achieved about 30 mpg . Second pushed to get 28 , and current gets 35 and thats an average over 6 or so full tanks. All had EGR . de cat and fan removed. No apparent difference in performance or condition in either , Probably explains why people get different figures .......or does not . P.S. Manuals driven easy no towing and standard road tyres.

I get 30mpg around town, its de cat, and removed the egr, but still got the fan, and it has a snorkel, but that never seemed to make a difference

mine seems to change day to day between 24mpg-30mpg. its lifted, running 33" tyres. snorkel still has the fan on and straight through exhaust de egr'd and de-cat

When I first got mine, I drove it über careful because I needed maximum mpg. I reckon I was getting around 40 mpg on a run, keeping it under 60 mph, and letting it pick up momentum in its own time around the country roads where I live. Then I started running it on bio diesel, so I don't really have to worry too much about mpg and use my right foot a bit more, and I reckon I'm getting an ever age of around 30 mpg. I still stick below 60 on a run because its a nice speed in me disco. :) mines manual and egr-less, but still has cat.

i'm getting around 25-30 aorund town depending how i drive, but i'm getting about 40-45 on the motorway, and that completly standard (jap import if that makes a difference),
i'm really happy with her, lot less demanding then the misses ;).
i do have a de-cat and a blanking plate for egr to fit at some point, if i ever get around to it.
