Hi Guys and Girls

as the title says I've noticed a small drop in power on my 94 300tdi def 90 around town not a huge difference but on motorway etc it just seem to struggle more than normal to get up to speed ;) .

Runs smooth starts easy no obvious noises regular oil and air filter changes etc.

Just lacking a small amount of power.

The turbo is kicking in but doesn't seem to be quite make the same high pitch noise when really booting it and get the odd whiff of fumes lifting off after giving it a boot.

I have changed the top intercooler hose as that looked suspect but others appear ok but made no difference.

any ideas / pointers appreciated.

Have you checked the throttle linkage under the bonnet. has a plastic adjustor on the end, mine came loose, had the same loss of power.

Cheers

I second this. Mine works loose every now and then and when I readjust the plastic screw adjuster the difference in performance is like night and day. Be careful in setting the adjuster though as you could affect the idle speed if the cable is drawn too tight.

Check the vacuum pipe from pump to turbo, they can chafe where they turn the corner round the back of the engine, losing vacuum .. ;)

cheers guys will check out the throttle linkage and vacuum pipe hadn't thought of those.

Any change of a picture rough description of the pipe ? google hasn't helped to much

Yeah, sorry, said it wrong .. it's not a vacuum pipe, it's the pipe between turbo and injector pump that allows extra fuelling to the turbo when it's needed ..
