Hi all,
Just picked up the above from another forum member - very please with it however i've noticed it appears to have no alarm. The previous owner never bothered with it however i'd like to get it working or get one fitted as i'm currently having to rely on a rather cumbersome disk lock. I have the two button fob which operates the central locking no problem however the indicators do not flash and i've since noticed that there is no red led in the instrument panel - i don't mean it doesn't flash i mean its just not there.
Were the Japanese models not fitted with alarm/immobilisers?

Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy, i'm not much help i'm afraid, got the same thing with mine. Two button fob, central locking works fine but no lights and no alarm. My insurers (Sureterm) well brokers, have now said I need proof of an immobiliser or its not covered for theft protection. I don't know if it has one, I assume it doesnt as their is no key paf and my key is just a standard type.

Hi Matilda - glad to hear i'm not alone.

Hi Discool,
Thanks for the info - however this weekend i've had a look in the passenger footwell and the green alarm box is there - or is this just the immobiliser part? I was also thinking that when the new MPH dash clocks were fitted could it be possible that a set without immobiliser led were fitted and that the led could still be there but just left behind the dash?

Failing that i suppose i'll have to get an aftermarket one fitted.

Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy C,
You will have the green alarm ecu as the fobs only communicate with that ecu, not the central locking - 'spider' immobiliser are then controlled by the alarm ecu.

If you can't start the engine unless the fob is present by the ignition switch then you have a functioning immobiliser therefore the red indicating lamp could be as you say still there but has not been located through the hole.

I assume you have the two button fob system, so I don't see why you would not be able to retro fit a UK spec alarm ecu although that would require new matching fobs or your existing fobs retuned to match the new ecu, have a word with RemoteKey they are helpfull and will let you know what is what.

The other option is to have fitted a new alarm/immobiliser kit and interface it with the central. locking.

Hi Discool,
Tried starting the disco tonight without the fob next to the ignition and it started no problem so i have to assume that there is no immobiliser - i'll speak to remote key tomorrow re: retro fitting an oem system - failing that i'm off to get an after market alarm immobiliser fitted.

Cheers
Andy
