300tdi into 200tdi defender

can anyone help me im a new member with a problem i have a 300tdi out of a discovery and want to put it in my 200tdi defender but dont know if it will be possable to mate it with a lt77 gearbox ive asked a few people some say yes i can and others say no i cant so i was wondering if anyone out there has done this convertion before

do a search its been coverd squillions of times

What's wrong with the 200tdi? Replacing it with a 300 isn't really an upgrade.

find the 200 very noisy compared to the 300

thats the defender not the engine it may slightly quieter but not by much the engine is close to the bulkhead on the defender but the disco has loads of sound proofing compared 2 up defender Jai

well i would like to thank you all for your advice i am going to leave the 200tdi in and change the transfer box for a discovery one which iv been told will stop it reving so much on the motorway and fit some sound proofing and i think that might do the job as everyone i have spoke to says i must be mad to put the 300tdi in as my 200tdi is the best engine .thanks hope i can help someone as well someday
