300tdi headlight conversion

hi just wondering what work would be involved in converting my 200tdi headlights to the 300tdi headlights with the clear indicator to make it prettier?? is it something i can undertake myself or best to get someone more experienced to do the work? cheers
 
i think youve got to cut out the metal bits behind the headlight and weld in the one from the 300, its a lot of work when you could just buy clear indicator lenses for the 200 ....
 
Aint the 300TDi headlights meant to be bettere? Bigger or sumat.
I like the looks of the Disco2 Headlights - but they are so expensive, suffer from corroded attachments points and prone to breaking, I aint so sure its a good idea anymore :eek:
 
there's no welding involved at all. You just cut away the aperture where the headlamp fits. Or in the case of the numpty who did mine Just cut slots and fold the tabs back in on themselves.

isnt that what you do if you want to fit td5 lights onto a 300 - not when you want 300 lights on a 200? :confused:
 
200 and 300 headlight units are inter-changeable without any metalwork mods at all.
They are basically the same unit, but the 200 has the addition of a black rim painted on the inside of the glass.
A lot of 300 owners change the units for 200 units cos they think they give a better light output.:rolleyes:
If you want clear indicators just go and buy them and fit them without touching your headlights, two minute job to fit.:)
 
A 200 front panel has to be cut for 300 lights, but early td5 units with the black ring will fit a 300.
I did mine (200 to 300), not for looks ,but much better lights .

What part of "I have a 200tdi disco with a 300tdi facelift, and the holes where the headlamps fit have been butchered, by whoever did the conversion". Are you having difficulty understanding. :blabla:
