I'd love to know the clown who designed the earth lead on the 300TDi, he deserves numpty of the year award.

Why would you put a crimp mid way down it, bolt that to the inner wing then have a swaged terminal at the end. bolted to the chassis:mad:

I've had charging problems, starting problems, lights dimming, heater fan not blowing on full, rear windows not working etc for weeks, all because the dumb crimp terminal has worked loose so not bonding correctly.

A £3.99 earth lead from Halfrauds from the battery to the inner wing bold sorted out no end of problems:D

Happy days.

The crimped bit bolted to the wing is the main body earth.
The bit bolted to the chassis is the earth for the engine block which is isolated from the body and chassis by the rubber engine mounts. I don't really see anything wrong with the arrangement.
As cars get older all earth points need locked at because of corrosion, its just routine maintenance.
There's a lot of numpties in the world:)
