Hi all sold my 200tdi disco last month and bought my self a 300 disco
spent weeks doing it up for mot welding etc, all the normal places that they rot. passed with flying colours.
I have had landrovers for the last twenty years,done all the shows Billing etc every year,
The problem seems that there is no bottom end grunt,bit like a slug,get it over 2000rpm then its ok lots of top end. are they all like this? my 200tdi disco had more power I am sure.
It is a M Reg.I had a go in a Nissan Terrano also a M reg goes like hell on bottom end much faster pick up, so after all these years may sell disco and buy a Terrano.
Probley get some right stick for saying the name Nissan.
wont be able to go to billing any more.

You won't get much grunt below 1800 rpm because the Turbo won't have kicked in. Also is it on standard size tyres? I pull a lot of heavy trailers with mine and have never had reason to complain about the grunt.

I've a m reg 300tdi. And mine was alittle sluggish bottom end. I found blacking off the egr and fitting a de-cat improved things alot.

Yup, similar problem with mine, a real slug at low revs, setting the valve clearances and blanking EGR made quite a difference ;)

TDi 300 develops it's power slightly higher up the rev range plus the gearing between 200 and 300 is different also.

Comparing a TDi 300 with a 2.7 Terrano is slightly unfair tbh but also are you sure your TDi 300 is running correctly?

I would be checking/replacing:

1. New air filter;
2. New fuel filter;
3. Change engine oil and filter;
4. Clean out the fuel sedimentor
5. Change the oils in gearbox, tranny box and diffs.

I hope you get your TDi running to your satisfaction, I like them very much as my siggy shows, but I run them at between 2000 and 3200rpm.

Good luck

Dave

good advice above. They should be blowing hard at 1850 rpm. Loose all the junk and fit a high flow filter and it will transform the old girl.

Could be a turbo lag issue or maybe even an injector starting to fail.
Any smoke issues? White smoke is unburnt fuel which points to an injector, black smoke on throttle is usually a blown turbo.

no white or black smoke starts first time changed oils and filter its done only 122,000miles
