Hi guys

Well after being sidetracked with my bro's jeep i am back on the trail of getting another landy with my son but this time a defender 90 300tdi.

i have had a couple of disco's 300tdi's in the past which i found to be very reliable and economical and i know the defenders and disco's in 300tdi form are more or less the same but i want to know do defender 300tdi's have a catt pipe if so can i de-catt it like you can with the disco 300tdi and can you run a defender 300tdi without a viscouse fan but keep the fan in the back with the required spanner just incase like i could with the disco 300tdi ;):)

look underneath, on the down pipe, if theres a box on it, thats yer cat, if not its either already been done, or it dint have one

whatever you call it, On spark ignition vehicles that need a full emissions test they need a visual check for a fitted cat, if its not there it fails. Compression ignition vehicles have a smoke density test not a full emissions test therefore do not require a check for the cat. The mot guide method of inspection doesnt even mention a cat in the compression ignition emission section therefore its not a testable item.

my 1998 300TDI 90 did have a cat
So your talking pish, cats are also listed for 300tdi 90 and 100 on paddocks, craddocks and lrseries websites to name a few, they were mostly fitted to the later 300tdi's to get them through the toughening emission tests

Abit off subject but if you have the de cat lying about i just got £50 for it at the scrap yard, payed for the decat pipe.
