Hi I am new to this forum

Could anyone help me I have got a land rover discovery 300tdi last feel me engine blow up I changed the engine fitted my fuel pump to the new engine fitted a cambelt and tensioner bilt it all up ran nice took it on a good 10 mile drive and it ran nice and pull well next day I went out in it and drove well for about 10 minutes then lost power and engine made a noise would not re start got car towed home and found that the cambelt had melted and twisted around gears and it had bent all the push rods and a rocker re-bilt the cylinder got a another cambelt put cam belt on and turned engine around by hand and noticed that the cambelt was running just off the wheels by about 5mm so looked on the internet and people talk about the bottom crankshaft gear modifide gear thats as a edge around it took this off my old engine refitted the cambelt turned the engine around by hand and the belt runs up agantesed the edge of the crank gear is this right or not.

Please someone help thanks for your time

crank should have pulley with guides and not the tensioner as was the case, worth checking other pulleys especially injection pump in case its not fitted 100%,a new belt will be needed

If you have fitted a new inj pump I would look there, its most likely as JM says fitted out of line, there is a correct sequence to doing up the bolts and to the correct torque, I think they even added/modified the bracket on side of pump.

The only wheel that sd got edges on is the crankshaft gear I might take the fuel pump back off and give the faces a good clean and refit it what is the best way to put the pump on? thankyou for your help

hi just a update i have took the fuel pump of and cleaned all the faces and re fitted it then i took all the old pulleys of my old engine and refitted them on to this new engine and everything seems OK built it all back together a i am going to see how it suns over the next week just like to say thank you to the people that have tried to help me
