My alarm system is working but only the indicators, the siren/sounder is silent. Have tried various tests but to no avail. Is it possible to fit a secondary sounder or do I have to replace the alarm unit as a whole at a cost of £200.00+ labour. Is it a job for the professional ??

I have the same prob! my sounder wasn't plugged in so i plugged it in and the alarm kept going off so i unplugged it again, the flashers keep flashing for no reason but at least it does that quietly LOL

try disconnecting your interior movement sensor and then re-connecting your alarm sounder. In 9 out of 10 cases it's due to the faulty sensor. A quick and cheap fix.;)

Mine are on (I think they're the alarm sensors anyway) the B pillar, just between the front and rear, one pointing forwards, one pointing back .. with none under the mirror.

nope my sensors are under the mirror, previous owner disconnected the sensors and sounder, when the flashers flash the interior light doesn't come on so am i right to assume its not a faulty door switch? could be the bonnet switch?

I'd try connecting the sounder, but not the sensors. If that sets the alarm and doesn't sound the sounder, then open a door and see if that sounds the sounder .. just eliminating the sensors as being at fault.

Then connect the sounder and the sensors, same thing, see what works and what doesn't, process of elimination. Make sure your battery is fully charged when testing or working with any auto electronics.

Frankly if the previous owners disconnected the sounder and sensors together then he might have disconnected, or connected wrongly, almost anything so all beta are off and you might be better sorted by taking it to an independant garage or an auto/alarm electrician.

tried connecting the sounder and not the sensors, alarm went off about 10mins later, could poss be the battery, it starts ok but it went flat while i was trying to fit a radio, interior light on, ignition on and radio on and off for an hr, i thought it would stand that ok?

Sounds like your battery is fecked then, either not holding charge or not being charged whilst running. Take the battery off, charge it fully, at least overnight unless you have a decent smart charger to 'boost charge' it ... then try same things again when it's fully charged. Often makes a hell of a difference ... ;)

Been off my feet for a few days,,,i have a smart charger in the garage but the garage is a few miles away, i'll try giving it a charge when i can get to the garage, it did start ok after being left for 2 weeks while we had our hols, doesn't look to be a big battery, can't see any ref no on it.......
