What is this pipe for?
I have just bought a Discovery 300 tdi, S-reg and I have an oil leak from this pipe. It is spraying all over my engine. I am of to buy Haynes' manual today, but thought i'd ask the legendary landyzone members first.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Unless it's finding its way out from under the rocker cover and spreading around in the breeze. At least it will keep the pipe in good condition. Mine's gone rusty since I replaced the rocker cover gasket last year.

An engine job and a bit of waste oil at the same time. Ain't I the lucky one? My fingernails are looking a bit too clean this weekend so I could do with topping up their oil level.

Apologies, i merely copied what looked like the pipe/ engine bay from the internet to indicate the problem.
Apologies again for taking so long to reply. I bought a Nissan Terrano and was surfing their forums for a good few months. Happy to say i am once again a landy owner.

My guess would have been rocker cover gasket as well but there is another pottential source in that area. 300TDI inlet manifold gaskets like to split and if your turbo isn't at its best it will leak oil from the manifold gasket joint all over the side of the engine

yup, that's a 200tdi not 300

you can also get some mist come up from the manifold gasket

also check your rad cap is the 15psi one, not the early 9psi one

and where's that breather hose going to??
