Following sudden. intermittent overheating on the motorway, plus a well pressurised expansion bottle after about ten seconds running from cold this morning, I have formed the not unnatural conclusion I am looking at head gasket or head issues.

If the head is terminally unwell, I see many listings on Ebay for new ones, plus all the 4 x 4 places do them. I presume most are aftermarket and I am wondering what recommendations are about regarding ones to consider or ones to avoid. I also see mention of ones with additional cooling.

Up until now, have never had any issues at all -- and it's a hard working truck -- so not really sure if extra cooling is a must. Also wondered if any recommendations on head gasket make or type.

All thoughts welcome !

Thanks, Mike.

Not direct experience, but Turner have a good rep,
I Don't think extra cooling is necessary IMO, the 300 is cooled well enough already, its usually the coolant level dropping that causes the problems with the water pump being so high up it doesn't take much loss for it top not circulate
As for gaskets, dont get cheap ****e, Elring are good ones (used em on a few other motors)

if your not sure, get it sniff tested.
