May be swapping out the Transfer box - 1994 Defender 90 300 Tdi

Beleive standard was 1.4 ratio but for road use 1.2 would give lower revs

Any downsides to moving to 1.2? Would be interested in feedback from anyone who has done this - have seen a few threads suggesting well worth considering

It all depends what you want to do with it, ie will you be towing alot and will you have big tyres on ya car,
I went through this and decided on the overdrive option so i have best of both, low down 1st for pulling of and so on and then 5th od for motorway.

My overdrive is GKN and it drops the rev's about 500-600rpm when engaged :)

Thanks guys - appreciated

Tyres and lift are standard. Some towing but well below 750kg. Used 95% for road work, 5% is just around our own field related to horses

I done mine and it just makes it alot nicer on the roads, no down sides I have found, the disco was heavier so you still have a benifit over a disco and they do fine...

Best thing I did to mine should have done it sooner. Can hear the speakers now when doing 70! And wouldnt have dreamed of going that fast before!

I dont tow anything though so couldnt comment on that side of things.
