Disco 1 300 TDi alarm problem

Hi all.
Can anyone help with this problem , i changed the battery in the fob of my 300 TDi and now the alarm wont work the doors lock and the indicators flash but no alarm any more ...Any help / advise would be greatly appreciated ..Thank you ..

EKA , Emergency Key Access, normally used when your fob stops working and you have to use the key to open the door.

It is a four digit number ( Maybe hexadecimal) , normally kept on the security card, if you do not have it then i would suggest asking your nearest landrover dealer for it for safety, they should give it to you for free with proof of ownership.

Worth trying in case it has a headache from changing batteries. Strange things happen on these old machines.

Did it go wrong after you changed the battery in the fob?

Have you had other issues?

Did you resynicronise the fob by pressing the lock button four times?
The access code is just an override of the security system nothing more, and use only if the system fails and you are unable u to start the engine, something that's not always known.

Also , did you unlock the car with the key and then press the fob lock 4 times to reset it?

Hi thanks for the info...Yes it stopped working after i changed the battery in the fob ...the fob still works everything else..door locks.. indicators.. both work fine ..just the alarm wont sound any more ..very strange..

AHH not sure about that one ...should i put a new battery in and try again ??..and what is the correct sequence of doing it ?? do i unlock first ,,then put in new battery or put battery in first??

Unlock the door using the key, press the lock button 4 times. should resync it.

Because that is what the manual says to do.

never tried not unlocking the car though, or using the fob and then resyncing, I suppose you can try it that way if you want .

If you have a Disco 1 at hand then please go and try and let us know what works,

Unfortunately I only have a 90 and D2 outside my house , so cannot go and try it at this moment.

Hi again ..Have tried it three time and still the same ..unlock door with key press fob lock 4 times nothing happens ..if i open door all indicators flash but no alarm sounds ...hey ho ..

Hi.. Yes ALL is normal apart from alarm not sounding..

The changing of the fobs battery has no bearing on the alarm sounder sounding or not.
It seems the alarm is working okay indicated by the hazards flashing but it's the sound that's missing, so maybe a iffy sounder or its electrical connection so was it sounding before when did u last do a test?

So, when you say the "alarm won't work", and "all is normal apart from the alarm sounding" do you mean that the siren doesn't work - if so, then perhaps you should check the siren - a basic check of its connections would be a good place to start, clean them up etc.....

Would still suggest you find out what the EKA is, just in case your fob fails / get lost, if it does then you may not be able to start the car.
