There fine, looks like someone has spent a lot of time in the past doing it all,I’ll get the rest of the interior out and see if it’s hiding anything,it’s just a shame the interior is really really tatty,it looks like it’s been a work truck as the previous owner lived on a farm according to the log book.

That doesn't matter and is an easy fix. Loads turn up on eBay. Rust is what matters and it sounds like you've done alright

Hopefully, will wait and see what’s in the front first :)on another positive the front seats are recaros from an s3 been trying to figure out what the came from.

I changed the pinion seal in the rear diff and bearings at the weekend with the help of another member, but it’s still leaking  the old seal and bearings had completely disintegrated, and now the bolts are rubbing on the case have I missed a spacer off our something along those lines?and is he seal the correct type was a nice fit when slid in.Is there a diagram of the rear diff available anywhere?

Simple answer there is a new flange with another new seal and fit the bolts to the flange before fitting it to the pinion shaft so they point towards the prop, or just get shorter bolts.
Flange is under 20 quid, cheap and cheerful ones ie britpart are good enough, Iirc only 2 types 10 or 24 spline, but pls check first.
