hi all

yesterday on way home the 3 amigos lights came on the dash....it was throwing it down all the way home...did some reading up last night and it seems like it could be a few things but commonly its an abs sensor failing by what ive read....this morning went to work in the dry and no lights on dash but on way home they came back on,was wet again

so...

can this prob be intermittent?
is hooking up to diagnostics the only way of finding out which abs sensor,if it is one?
and does this have any detrement to continued driving, will i do any more damage in meantime while i try to sort it?

thanks,andy

I had exactly the same thing a few months back, it was the brake pedal switch, which is a known problem for bringin on the "3 amigos", which is why landrover modified the switch, and when you see the size difrence of the new switch:eek:, you can certainly see why they changed it!

Ive had no problems since, touchwood:D

Yes its still safe to drive till you get it sorted. The other thing to look at is the hill decent control switch on the gear stick as the wires are prone to breaking and causing a problem.
But would put my money on the brake pedal switch a cheap and easy job.
If none of the above then will need hooking up to find fault.

would i be right in thinking this is similar in design to an mgf switch?.....plunger type which gets stuck?...will try have a look when it stops raining...cheers guys

yes it is the plunger type, but dont even bother trying to fix it, just replace it with the "landrover modified" one, when you see the difrences in the switches you'll see why they changed em:doh:, this was a known fault for causing the exact problem you have, and like whats been said its a cheap fix if it cures it, oh yeah, and dependin where you get it from theres an adaptor lead which goes with it to connect between the switch and the car loom/plug

bit of useless info: if you do go and get the modified switch, when you put into the slot, it can be a bit tight:)D), at first, but it will go and then once its rotated it just locks into place with a positive click.

It's not the brake light switch that's the problem. Check the wiring to the hdc switch under the gear lever gaiter and the abs senors/wiring.

The resistance of each abs senor should be around. 1000 ohms

The switch in the first link is incorrect for your car anyway.

Hi just wondered if you have sort out 3 amigos problem as I have same thing and the mot is due!

You were lucky, it shouldn't have passed with an ABS warning light on.

Absolutely spot on.

You'll get away with the Airbag light on though. Looks like the tester was confused.

Look at any MOT station and there will be a chart on the wall describing the light sequence for ABS etc.

seem we all have similar probl. alarm also on when 3 amigos light up. in South Africa not know where to look Landie mechs Jo!!!!!
