Hi guys, basically borrowed the dizzy off my 3.9 classic for another project, put it on and the engine ran straight away.

Then... went and put the dizzy back on my rangy and now it wont start. Just fires intermittently.
I marked the body in relation to the engine but not the position of the rotor arm which I now realise I should. I thought the locating bar on the bottom of the dizzy meant it could only go one of 2 ways around.

Is there anyway I can re jig the timing rather than pure fluke?? cheers

Set engine to TDC, rotor arm pointing at the position of numer 1 lead. The slot you mention is the oil pump drive and doesn't affect your timing because you can rotate the pump drive. Just remember when the dizzy goes in the rotor arm turns through somethng like30 degrees as the drive gears mesh.

You might want to take a look at a thread in general chat coz MJLTIGGER has just been through this - see his thread Me again need some help.
