Help, when running cold perfect! as soon as it warms up, missfires! if I stop in traffic it will stall, worse in reverse gear, once over 3000rpm runs good.
Other problem is I am in Scily, I have been to the Land rover main dealer 3 times, and they now tell me they have never seen a V8 and their computer will not talk to my car.
Can any one help?
Robert:mad:

have you tried to clean out the air sensor thingy which should be situated between the air filter and the inlet manifold. on one of my cars this can get clogged up and give the problems you tallk of

Hello SLOB
Yes I have cleaned the air mass meter, changed the leads ( 20000 km ago ) distributer cap, rotor arm,air filter, and plugs. the plugs I have in now have done 2000 km and are clogged with black carbon, the exaust is also very black and I am using to much petrol!
thankyou for your intrest
Robert

dunno know then. all i could suggest would be to check all connections and be sure that every thing that wants to move, can move.
one reason i still prefer carbs and points,

Is your truck running oxygen sensors/cats? Do all the usual v8 checks, plugs, leads, cap and rotor.(use a genuine rotor) Then look at all the rubber hoses around the engine bay - esp around the inlet manifold area.
Once this is all sorted and OK then you need to start looking at what the oxygen sensors are doing. If they are not switching properly once a second or so then when the engine gets up to temp you get all sorts of poor running/stalling issues.

Hello Eightinavee
Thank you for your interest
Checked everthing you said, changed the rotor back to the original, some difference, the tick over is much slower, and the car runs better, once moving.
The HT leads I put on are not original and are silicon, only 20000 km, do you think I should change these also?
Where are the oxygen sensors, what do they look like and how do I test them?
A friend of mine had a similar problem with his disco, but he lives in Dubai where everone has a V8 so it is easy to get one fixed, he changed the ignition module, the small black box behind the coil. What do you think, can I test the module?
Again thank you for your time
Best regards

The plug leads should be ok,the oxygen sensors,(if fitted) are screwed into the exhaust downpipes -they have 3 wires coming out of them.Really what you need to sort this out is a garage with a tech who uses an oscilliscope - an hour with a good scope would sort out your car.You have done the basic legwork that takes all the time, you are now at the most interesting/satisfying bit of the job.(It's the bit I enjoy anyaway !)
Cant remember if I said, put a set of fresh NGK plugs in it before you give up completely - Rover v8's are very fussy about plugs. Is there a garage near you that uses a scope ?

Thank you for your reply, yes I have wires coming from the down pipes, but no I can not find a garage that has any idea what they are looking at! What is the number on the NGK plugs I shoud use? I will try and get them mail order from the UK.
Best regards
